Lately I've been copping some unique pieces from different Goodwill store locations around the island. Most of the time my reaction is "I freaking love this, but I don't how to style it yet!" I mean eventually I do figure out how to outfit my thrifted threads, and 10/10 I'll come up with something that 's out of the ordinary yet kind of makes sense. Majority of this look was thrifted and I took it to the Art + Flea Market event in June where they had a vintage theme called "Re-Up".
For this event, I wanted a look that popped but didn't want to stand out too much. Then I came across this oriental styled jacket that's reversible with red/gold and black/red embroidered satin. I was instantly attracted to the red and gold that was facing out in the men's outerwear section - yeah I tend to gravitate to menswear! The fit is a bit loose but the fabric is thick to wear it falls straight so it's not uncomfortably baggy. Both sides have pockets which is another bonus because I've always wanted a jacket with pockets on the inside! you might also see that the closure have legit Chinese knot buttons going down. I was also able to style this jacket by folding the lapels so that the black and red side shows.
On top of that I found other cool things like my red ankle booties and this little wicker bag. This quirky handbag was originally a toy tea set! it had everything from cups, plates, utensils, etc. Inside is lined with a blue and white gingham fabric. This also came with a teddy shaped keychain, which you see attached.
Everything else you see in this outfit came from other places; the bralette from Victoria's Secret, my Levi denims from Harbors Vintage, and the gold frame specs from Wish. I've been into stacking my necklaces lately and I felt that putting my pocket watch necklace from Time and Style with my lime quarts pendant from Gypsy Eyed Girl would balance with my dainty necklace from Sohom.
When it comes to thrifting, I always go into the store with out big expectations; I like to dive in and let myself find the most eccentric pieces that still work with what I already own. What are your thoughts on my thrifted look? Stay tuned on my Instagram for more to come!
